Juvederm Q & A
What is Juvéderm?
Juvéderm is a group of dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid in a soothing gel base. Your skin naturally produces hyaluronic acid, a compound that keeps your skin hydrated and supple.
When Dr. Hicks injects one of the Juvéderm products under your skin, the dermal filler naturally fills in and lifts the area. Wrinkles are immediately softened and significantly diminished, cheeks are lifted, and lips are enhanced.
What Juvéderm products might I receive?
Dr. Hicks offers a variety of Juvéderm products so he can customize your treatment to perfectly fit your cosmetic needs. These are a few examples of the different Juvéderm products:
Juvéderm Vollure™ XC
This treats moderate to severe wrinkles around your mouth and nose, such as laugh lines and marionette lines that go from the corners of your mouth down toward your chin.
Juvéderm Voluma® XC
Voluma targets age-related volume loss in the middle of your cheeks. In addition to restoring volume, this product effectively lifts your cheeks.
Juvéderm Ultra XC
This Juvéderm product augments your lips and diminishes lipstick lines. Dr. Hicks uses a very fine needle to artistically inject the filler so it softens the fine lines around your lips.
What should I expect during treatment?
Before your session begins, Dr. Hicks fully explains the procedure and talks with you about whether you want a topical anesthetic. The Juvéderm XC products contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic that alleviates your pain during your injection, so that may be all you need.
Your Juvéderm treatment takes about 15-60 minutes. The time varies depending on the area of your face being treated. You can return to your normal routine as soon as your session is finished. However, you should not engage in strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
When will I see results?
Juvéderm produces immediate results and they’re long-lasting. Your results should last up to one year for most Juvéderm products and for a few, like Voluma, you’ll have longer results.
If you’re ready to dramatically diminish your wrinkles and regain a more youthful appearance, call Marion Dermatology, or schedule an appointment online.
